Two brothers, aged eight and five, died of suffocation after locking themselves inside a refrigerator while playing hide-and-seek. The children, Saury and Darin, were alone at their home in Vista Hermosa, Colombia, while their parents were on a short trip. During this time, the children, in their innocence, decided to spend their time playing their favorite game of «hide-and-seek» while waiting for their parents to return. The children's father, Brian Guevara Trevino, told the Colombian newspaper 'El Tiempo' that they had left the house for about twenty minutes «to buy food and look for a shirt he needed to participate in a parade for the start of the school year». He added that «the refrigerator was unplugged, so the children climbed on it and got inside to play, and then the lid fell and closed on them, causing suffocation». The father explained that his children loved to play hide-and-seek, and he and his wife had started looking for them around the house, assuming they were just playing the game, before realizing what had happened. Despite the doctors' attempts to save their lives, they could only confirm the children's death. The newspaper reported that the police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
